Details & Size

Ostrich leather is celebrated for its supple texture, distinctive quill pattern, and natural resilience, and with the right care it will last for many years. If exposed to rain, gently blot the surface with a soft cloth and allow it to dry naturally away from heat or sunlight. Because the leather contains natural oils, it rarely requires heavy conditioning, though a small amount of specialist cream may be used sparingly if it appears dry. To preserve its colour and suppleness, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and always store the item in its dust bag, taking care not to press it under heavier objects that could flatten the natural quills. Over time, the leather will soften and develop a rich patina, with each piece growing more individual in character.

Did you know

Ostrich skin contains natural oils that help it resist cracking and dryness, giving it remarkable longevity compared to many other leathers. Each hide carries a unique arrangement of quill marks, meaning no two finished pieces are ever alike and every bag bears its own natural signature. Working with ostrich leather is also one of the most demanding crafts, as artisans must carefully align the quill patterns to showcase the hide’s natural beauty.
