A Collaboration with

Watts 1874

Swaine and Watts1874 unite in a celebration of unparalleled British heritage, craftsmanship, and perennial appeal. This collaboration started around an encounter at the heart of London and now bridges two storied legacies. Watts was founded in 1874 by renowned architects, who over three generations shaped more than 1,500 landmark institutions. Swaine correspondingly is marking 275 years of championing British craftsmanship across leather goods, umbrellas and hats.

Handmade in Swaine’s Mayfair workshop, this limited-run collection of smoking hats is offered in four distinct and rich tapestries, fusing tradition with modern expression. Crafted from Watts 1874’ exquisite Montepulciano and Constantinople velvets and lined with rich silk taffeta, these hats are a playful tribute to classic British eccentricity and the subtle markers of the English gent.

Heritage has always been a living force for both houses. Watts’ archive continues to inspire new collections, exhibitions, and global projects across entertainment, hospitality, residential design, and historic houses. Its legacy of architectural innovation and meticulous craftsmanship, passed down through five generations, remains at the heart of the in-house studio creative spirit.

The collaboration is a meeting of minds and values: objects made to last, rooted in history yet alive with modern elegance, celebrating the quiet confidence of true British craftsmanship.
