Care

We recommend that you store your cap somewhere dry placed peak side down. For longer periods of storage keep your leather cap in a hat box including some form of moth-repellent. A soft cloth can be used to gently remove any dust or minor particles from the leather.

Keep your leather cap dry. Should it become wet we recommend you dry it as soon as possible to avoid the leather absorbing the water. To dry your leather cap remove any surface water with a soft cloth, then leave the cap to dry naturally in a well ventilated space; avoid placing the hat by heat sources such as a radiator as this will cause the leather to dry and crack.

Did you know

In the 1920s and 30s, Herbert Johnson introduced innovative product lines that mirrored the rising influence of automobiles, much like Swaine & Adeney advancements of the era. A defining achievement was the creation of the first crash helmets for motor sports.

Today, the Driving Cap carries on this legacy. Once a practical staple for working-class men, typically made from wool or tweed for warmth, its popularity surged in 1571 when England enacted a law requiring men of certain classes to wear wool caps on Sundays and holidays.
