LAUNCHING OUR SWAINE & ADENEY FEDORAS

A CELEBRATION OF HERITAGE STYLE

At Swaine, history is woven deep into every creation. Our latest Herbert Johnson launch—the limited-edition Patina Collection—honours the craftsmanship and legacy that define our brand. Introducing the Swaine Fedora and the Adeney Fedora; two remarkable and beautiful pieces inspired by tradition, but reinterpreted for the modern wearer.

THE SWAINE FEDORA: PRESENCE AND PANACHE

Deeply rooted in English history, and originating from an old English word for shepherd, “Swaine” evolved through the centuries, carrying connotations of devotion, charm and romance. By the early 1800s, a swain was not just a shepherd but also a gentleman—one who carried an air of flirtation and confidence, his style as commanding as his presence.

Reflecting this heritage, the Swaine Fedora is designed for those who appreciate classic elegance with a touch of flamboyance. With an wide, noble brim and a balanced crown, this hat follows the golden ratio, subtly elevates the wearer's gaze, drawing attention to their eye-line. The wide brim, reminiscent of the pastoral hats worn by English landowners, adds a theatrical element, perfect for those who seek to make an impression with effortless charm.

THE ADENEY FEDORA: REFINED AND ELEGANT

In contrast to the boldness of the Swaine Fedora, the Adeney Fedora exudes quiet sophistication. Named after a distinguished English family known for their philanthropy and social awareness, the Adeney represents restraint, dignity, and understated elegance. It recalls an era when refinement was measured not by ostentation but by grace and composure.

This fedora is a study in proportion and balance, designed with a trimmer silhouette for a more poised, controlled aesthetic. Its  brim is narrower than the Swaine, offering a compact yet confident profile. The crown, slightly lower in stature, reflects the etiquette of the Victorian era, when hats for women and refined gentlemen were designed to be subtle yet striking. The Adeney Fedora is an embodiment of timeless poise, perfect for those who value craftsmanship and discretion over flamboyance.

Much like the Swaine, the Adeney Fedora is crafted from the finest rabbit fur felt, finished with a precise pouncing technique for smoothness and durability, designed to age gracefully, becoming a reflection of its wearer's journey.

THE LIMITED EDITION PATINA COLLECTION

Both the Swaine and Adeney Fedoras are part of our exclusive Patina Collection—a celebration of how fine materials evolve with time, acquiring character and richness with every passing season. Just as Swaine’s traditional bridle leathers develop a deep, lustrous patina over years of use, these hats will become unique to their owners, shaped by experience and care.

This limited-edition release is not just a tribute to heritage but a statement of enduring style. Each fedora is an investment in timeless craftsmanship, embodying both the romanticism of the past and the sophistication of the present.

Available in a striking palette of heritage-inspired tones—Chestnut, Jaguar Green, Oxblood, Havana, London Tan, and Navy—this fedora embodies both tradition and individuality.

The Swaine and Adeney Fedoras are available in-store at Swaine’s flagship locations on New Bond Street and Burlington Arcade, as well as online. Secure yours and become part of a legacy that spans generations.
