The opening of our new store at the Beverly Center represents a considered step in establishing a presence for Swaine in the United States. Devised with a focus on hospitality, the space is designed to host bespoke consultations and client appointments, offering an environment intended for discovery, exploration and appreciation of the brand’s craftsmanship.

The store sits within a cultural landscape long shaped by storytelling through cinema, only a stone's throw from Hollywood. This setting feels especially fitting given Swaine’s long standing relationship with the film industry, one that continues to connect traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creative expression.

From the musical world of Singin’ in the Rain and Mary Poppins to the action and adventure of James Bond, Kingsman and Indiana Jones, Swaine’s presence on screen spans a distinctive cinematic history. Across these films, craft and character work in harmony, with each piece closely tied to the figures who carry them. Whether a Brigg umbrella, Swaine briefcase or Herbert Johnson hat, these objects go beyond props to become part of the storytelling itself, helping to define identity, status and intent within the narrative world.

As part of this legacy, Swaine continues to produce pieces inspired by those seen in film. The Original design draws on the iconic briefcase carried by James Bond, refined for contemporary use (while omitting the concealed weaponry featured on screen).

Umbrellas have similarly played a recurring role, offering more than just protection from the rain, from framing memorable entrances to supporting the theatrical presence of Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins.

The Indiana Jones franchise has become synonymous with the high crown fedora designed by Herbert Johnson craftspeople in their United Kingdom workshop, helping to create the character’s iconic look. While the hats evolve throughout the franchise, Herbert Johnson remains central to their heritage. Our Indy collection carries this legacy forward, featuring hats inspired by those seen in the films.
