  We recommend that you store your cap somewhere dry placed peak side down. For longer periods of storage, we recommend keeping your leather cap in a hat box including some form of moth-repellent. A soft cloth can be used to gently remove any dust or minor particles from the leather. We recommend that you keep your leather cap dry, however should your cap become wet we recommend you dry it as soon as possible to avoid the leather absorbing the water. To dry your leather cap remove any surface water with a soft cloth, then leave the cap to dry naturally in a well ventilated space; avoid placing the hat by heat sources such as a radiator as this will cause the leather to dry and crack. We recommend a light application of neutral domestic leather polish whenever the leather starts to feel dry.

When measuring for a Herbert Johnson hat, please place string or tape around your head above your ear and across the mid forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Measure your head exactly where you want the hat to sit. It may help to either do this in the mirror or have someone to help for accuracy. Measure in centimetres. If your measurement falls between sizes, round up to the nearest half centimetre and/or email your exact measurement to our team and they will be happy to advise you.

The Driving Cap has a rich history dating back to 14th-century. Originating as a practical headwear for working-class men, often made from wool or tweed to provide warmth, in 1571 England passed a law mandating that men of certain classes wear wool caps on Sundays and holidays, which boosted its popularity.
